Most Frustrating

I bought this fan/purifyer in December for a reading/meditation room in a new residence we were moving into. We have a Dyson robot vacuum, Dyson cordless and cordless vacuums, and my wife a Dyson hairdryer.
Upon setting the fan up, I was surprised at how little airflow it produced - less airflow than the much older small round Dyson fans and less airflow than a cheap tower fan that we have. I thought there must be something wrong with it. The Dyson fan was also loud on the higher settings required to produce an airflow you could barely feel from 3 meters away. The appliance was completely unsuitable for the large room and purpose that I bought it for.

I contacted Dyson who did an over the phone assessment and suggested that I packagen the unit and return it to under warranty. I'd lost faith with the product by this time and requested a refund. As I'd bought the fan from The Good Guys, I was advised that id' have to take it back to them. The Good Guys tested my unit against their display model and found that there was nothing wrong with it. The Good Guys do not have the Dyson 45 day return policy so they said that I'd have to contact Dyson and ask them to approve it.

Dealing with Dyson customer service was a lesson in the right hand not knowing what the left was doing. After two weeks of Messenger chat, Dyson dont do email with customers, multiple phone calls repeating a story that kept getting longer, getting told to call a different numbers which didnt answer, multiple trips to the Good Guys to call Dyson while in-store -– as instructed by Dyson customer service -– only to be told to call another number and then finally send Dyson an email.

After two weeks the Good Guys had still not been able to work through this with Dyson.
Fortunately for us The Good Guys manager issued us a refund before clearing it with Dyson.

Great design, fair build quality, some nice features, limited in some desirable functionality and inconsistent operation between units. As background, I own three TP07’s and have experience with other purifiers (including 2 different models and 6 Blueair units). The Dyson app could use some enhancements to improve the functional capabilities of the unit. For example, the app is unable to apply the desired default operations across all models; one must program each separately (a hassle given how the app is programmed). The app (and the TP07) cannot be programmed for scheduled operations while also using the ‘auto’ function (e.g. run the purifier each day between 9a-11a and/or run the purifier for 10 min each hour, and then revert to ‘auto’ where the purifier automatically runs when it detects a higher concentration of dust, smoke, etc.). If you use ‘auto’, you cannot use scheduling. If you use scheduling, you cannot also use auto mode. If you use scheduling, the device will only run when scheduled and not revert to automatic operation. If there is a way to schedule run time operation for a block of time or for ‘x’ minutes per hours via the app (which I could not), then the app should be more intuitive so I could figure out a way to do it (I tried and failed; it doesn’t look like the app has this desired/needed capability). I also found the ‘auto’ sensing varies greatly between units. Placing all three TP07s in the same room equal distance from a diffusor with essential oils, where each machine was in ‘auto’ mode, each machine read the air quality differently, one starting immediately at a relatively high fan speed, the other starting later but at a lower fan speed, and one sometimes not automatically starting at all; each diffusor also presenting different air quality readings. While not a strictly controlled scientific experiment, I did find the diffusor each consistently operating differently from the others despite altering the variables in my in-home experiment (distance/location of the purifier from the diffusor, different levels of diffusor output, etc). Regardless of what I did, each machine operated consistently itself, but differently from the ‘auto’ sensing capability of the others. For better or worse, my household air is relatively clean (which is why the TP07 doesn’t turn off often in ‘auto’ mode). Yet, I bought the TP07 for purifying the air as well as circulating the air in my rooms (but not necessarily running all the time to circulate air). lastly, build quality. For the price, the unit feels ‘cheap’ with its lightweight plastic parts (looks fantastic though). Fix the app, fix the TP07 operation, ensure consistently in operation between the unites, beef up the build quality, and I’d give 5 stars. I’ve had 6 Blueair units running 7x24x365 for 10 plus years, the build quality of the Dyson doesn’t inspire such confidence. For me, it’s a 3 star rating today.
Defective and no support

I purchased this Dyson "refurbished" air filter fan thinking that it would be okay given that it was labelled as in "excellent" condition. However, upon receipt, we noticed that periodically emits a very high pitched and annoying sound which is very uncomfortable to be around. I reached out to Dyson which was very unhelpful. They seemed reluctant to assist, then said it was a filter issue which isn't a warrantied item (even though it's brand new) and I would have to pay for it myself. Upon a little research, it seems this problem isn't uncommon in Dysons and is either a worn or defective motor or bearings. I expect that a $500 fan (though refurbished but noted in "excellent" condition) would be in better working condition and would not emit a noise so annoying that you cannot use it. Note that this fan has a 1-year warranty. NOT HAPPY!!!

I am allergic to dust (both dust mites, which is unfortunate, but I am, and about everything under the sun). I have multiple air purifiers and have purchased numerous types and brands. I currently have Holmes in two of my rooms with a Sony and then another one (I can't remember the brand), which all range in price from $150 to $300, and I am just over the moon impressed with this one. Yes, it is a little on the spendy side, but it has an application that informs you of the "Air Quality Index," and if you keep the air purifier on automatic, it will keep track; you can collect data, and the application makes a chart, and it will also control the rate in which the machine works (so when the air quality is good, the machine goes idle and if it isn't then it speeds up). THIS IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE FROM HAVING YOUR OTHER ONES RUN 24/7, ALL DAY, ALL NIGHT, NOISE ALL THE TIME. It also provides the temperature and humidity of the room on the home page of the application (with a few touches, you can see the "Nitrogen dioxide and Oxidizing Gases," "Particulate Matter," and "Pollen Levels." It also shows the outside's temperature, humidity, and air quality! It also breaks down the definition and meaning of each category. I can say that I have noticed a HUGE difference in my allergies since I have gotten this. I am also more aware of the conditions outside, which has helped tremendously. It also doesn't look "thrumpy" like the other air purifiers.
